Post #15 - Week 6 of the second nine weeks

Welcome Einsteins.

This week's post involves some math on your part.  I love how science and math blend so nicely together.

This week you must correctly answer all three questions to receive your prize.
Here are the three questions.

1.  Roughly estimate how many full moons are there in each season?

2.  Roughly estimate this question - If it is May 10, 2012 and the moon is in the 1st quarter moon phase, when will the moon be in the full moon phase (I want a date).

3.  If there is a February 29 in the year, do the moon phases last longer too?

1. There are about three or four full moons in every season. 2.There will be May 18 2012. 3.No cause on a leap year it still only takes 365.25 days to rotate the sun so no nothing happens to the moon phases.

1. there are about three full moons in each season. 2.it will be a full moon on it will be May 18, 2012. 3. no because even on a leap year the moon phases take 28 days, and also it really isnt an extra day, they are just adding up the extra .25 from the 365.25 days in a year and one day doesnt make much of a difference.

1. There would be 3 full moons in each season because it takes about a month for the whole cycle and there are 3 months in each season.

2.It would be May 17th because a quarter of the moon phase cycle takes 7-8 days.

3.No they do not last longer because it still takes the moon the same amount of time to orbit the Earth.

There are 3 new moons in a season because there is three months in a season and there is a full moon every month.

It will be May 16 or 17,2012

No they last the same length but there is one more moon phase than on a normal year.

1 there will be roughly 3 full moons in a season beacausethe is roughly 1 full moon in a month and there is 3 months in a season
2 it will be May 17 2012 it will take 6-7 days for a first quatrer to change to a full moon
3 no beacuse the moons still take a certian amount of days for the moon to change
