Post #16 - Week #7 of the Second Nine Weeks

Another week of using your math brain and your science brain together to answer the BLOG.

This week I want to know roughly how many days of the year are spent in the waxing phases and how many days of the year are spent in the waning phases.  All correct answer submitters will be entered into a raffle for 50 Collins Coins or you may choose to not enter the raffle and instead earn three coins for your correct answer.  Let me know your choice.

Post #15 - Week 6 of the second nine weeks

Welcome Einsteins.

This week's post involves some math on your part.  I love how science and math blend so nicely together.

This week you must correctly answer all three questions to receive your prize.
Here are the three questions.

1.  Roughly estimate how many full moons are there in each season?

2.  Roughly estimate this question - If it is May 10, 2012 and the moon is in the 1st quarter moon phase, when will the moon be in the full moon phase (I want a date).

3.  If there is a February 29 in the year, do the moon phases last longer too?

Bonus Question Post 4 - September 12-16

Here we are, four weeks into school - yeah!!

Do I have a post for you this week.

Check out this photo and tell me what physical property I could be demonstrating.

All entries will receive a FREE RAFFLE ticket to be used in the weekly raffle of their choice.  I can't wait to read what you come up with for answers!!

My guess responses to clues

1.  Henna - I think refrigerator - am I correct?  Great physical property clues!!  Come get your Silly Bandz on Monday, your answer was correct.

2.  Lauren - I think your third item is you - am I correct?  Great clues too!!  I hope you like Silly Bandz, come get yours on Monday, your answer was correct.

3.  Jordan - I think your item is a tv - am I correct?  Great clues, the tv is definitely entertaining to me.  Please make a Silly Bandz stop on Monday, your answer was correct.

4.  Anna - I am stumped.  Your clues - 1. 2 ft. tall 2. magnetic 3. grey and black 4. buttons 5. lights--made me think initially refrigerator but it's only 2 ft tall with buttons?  I might need a few more clues.  Your wrist better have room for a Silly Bandz, your answer was correct.

One last thing, don't worry if you don't see your post, I delete them after I read them so your super brain power can't be usurped by another reader.

Second post of the year - for the week of August 29-September 2

Great job blogging with Miss Buster last week, I am very impressed with your responses.  Please remember to post as ANONYMOUS and then use your first name only (first initial of last name too, if more than one of you with the same first name exist in a class) and your homeroom teacher's name in your post, so you get credit for your great responses.  For example is your name is Mickey Mouse and you're in my homeroom you would put Mickey - Buster.  Now you try.

You can't answer this week's blog question before Thursday, September 1.  The blogging bonus question is what 2 science tools are the hardest for you to remember and why?  All posts to this blog this week (beginning on Thursday) will receive a pass to bring a healthy snack with you to eat in class any day that isn't a lab day.  This should be one of the easiest posts of the year.  Get to posting my Einsteins!

There were many correct answers this week - yahoo - great job Einsteins!!  This is a picture of a female sea turtle's track.  She laid her eggs early in the morning on July 24, 2011, at Cape San Blas, FL.  Her baby turtles will hatch around mid-October.  Stay tuned for more details.
